I Can Dig It

Isabella and I went to my parents’ house this weekend. My dad and I planned to dig a French drain (or rather a “Freedom drain” if you hold grudges), while my Mom and Isabella had several kitchen projects to tackle.

Every Day Is A New Day

"Every day is a new day." I had a teacher who would say this every morning at the start of class. We thought this was unoriginal to say the least. Wasn't it obvious that "every day is a new day" when the name of the day changed, the date changed, the fact we went home and came back wearing different clothes...it's not like this was news to us. We were 12 years old and at 12 you know everything. What's the point in always acknowledging this simple fact?

What's in a Title?

Getting ready for my high school reunion got me thinking about how to describe what I do. I had wanted to say simply that I’m retired because I’m independently wealthy. But that’s not technically or even layman-ly true. (Come to think of it, I don’t really know what the “independent” part of “independently wealthy” means -- I’d guess you could still buy a boatload of unnecessary miscellany even with some “dependent” cash.)

Stories of Life, Songs of Hope

It's not classical or hip-hop. It's not Wayne Newton or Lil' Wayne. It's not the Super Bowl or Wimbledon. It's the millions of children, tweeners, pre-teens, teens, adults, and seniors around the world who have Autism that we should be celebrating. Beyond the medical journals, beyond the statistics, beyond the vials of blood that sit in labs to be tested ......we have wonderful friends who are making history every day. Through hard work, dedication and love there are teams celebrating everyday successes that will never be splashed across the headlines. Want to know what team is?

Terror at the All-Hands

The president of my employer, Mustang Technology Group , locked eyes with me at an All-Hands meeting the other day. “Matt, could you stand up please?” he said.

AutismSpot Party @ The G's

We have an incredible team made up of very talented and committed people. Every single day, AutismSpot team members are hard at work building content, filming, designing, coding, speaking, consulting, writing, advising, or teaching. Being agile and transparent are key components that make a team like this work so well. When someone says they are going to do something, they do it. We rely on everyone to play their role because there is no room for redundancy. Like autism, there is never a day off or lack of focus.

a super, crazy, dizzy, sick, can't believe it is over kind of day

8:20am - dropped Sam off for his third and final day of a three day trial at a new school we are looking into
8:40am - getting a bagel and coffee while driving back across town to pick up all my camera equipment
8:50am - return a text message saying I am good on coffee and don't need anyone to pick some up for me before filming
9:29am - called someone to grab me a grande mild in a venti cup with non-fat milk to the top because i had the feeling i would need more
9:47am - production meeting started and reviewed a number of important business issues with a lead of one of our companies

Art or Science

Is art a science or is science an art? There are infinite answers to this question. To begin delving into such matters, I would prefer a Partagas 160 Cifuentes Especial in one hand and a fine spirit in the other. Toss in a little technology chatter and you have yourself a really good evening ahead.
